merchant1948.co.nz IN PRAISE OF FASHION Some of New Zealand fashion's biggest names are being recognised on a wider stage. World co-founder Denise L'Estrange-Corbet has been made Dame Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit, while Margarita Robinson of Dunedin's Nom*D has been named an Officer of the Order.
Meanwhile, Annah Stretton was one of 10 finalists for New Zealander of the Year.
Modern goddess Meadowlark's latest collection, Venus, is a nod to Renaissance master Botticelli's The Birth of Venus, but there's a bit of goth and '80s glam mixed in as well. It features irregularly shaped gems, including baroque pearls, grey diamonds and pink and green sapphires, set in sterling silver, gold and platinum. Exquisite folded-fan designs sit alongside others that recall halos and angel's wings, plus there's a range of heart-shaped treasures, and bands inscribed with declarations of love. Net-a-Porter and David Jones have just become stockists, so you can shop the pieces all over the country.
