Industry's best performers honoured at inaugural awards Industry game changers, community champions and service-oriented agents were honoured last night.
Sixteen winners were announced at the inaugural Annual REA Excellence Awards, awarding the property and media industries' best innovators, marketers and community champions.
Supported by principal partner American Express, 17 awards were given in three categories - Innovation, Service and Marketing Excellence, and Contribution to Community.
Residential Property Campaign of the Year went to Century 21 principal Grant Smith Property, of Buderim on the Sunshine Coast. Mr Smith (pictured) took an uninsurable and uninhabitable termite-infested property to market. As marketing budget was limited, he used media relations to attract local media interest in the property.
Once it was on realestate.com.au, however, the listing went viral and attracted state-based television and radio coverage. The savvy marketing campaign resulted in a sale above reserve price and well exceeding the valuer and insurer's figures.
The Excellence in Customer Service award was won by Gavin Rubinstein, of Ray White NSW.
Brand Campaign of the Year went to Ray White Corporate, NSW, for Raise More Hands, a three-month campaign to create Australia's largest auction event. Working with News Corp and realestate.com.au, it facilitated 425 more auctions compared with the same time last year, and had 11 qualified franchise enquiries.
