Business figures from South Korea and Australia will meet in Adelaide this week for a forum set up to strengthen economic ties.

More than 250 delegates will attend the annual AustraliaKorea Business Council and Korea-Australia Business Council joint meeting a twoday event bringing together business leaders, government and industry representatives to explore opportunities for collaboration and investment in industries including energy, defence, space, critical minerals, artificial intelligence and manufacturing.

Australia-Korean Business Council chief executive Liz Griffin said the annual event was being held in Adelaide for the first time since it was established in 1978.

"Few countries are as complementary as Australia and Korea, with Australia's strengths in energy, resources and critical minerals aligning strongly with Korea's capabilities in advanced manufacturing, technology and innovation," she said.

"Our relationship is also becoming broader and deeper, with new areas of economic co-operation emerging alongside stronger people-topeople ties and growing Australian engagement with Korean culture."

Attendees at the state government-backed event, which begins on Tuesday, will include representatives from Korean companies including POSCO Group, Hyundai Engineering and Construction, Samsung Construction and Trading, Hyosung Heavy Industries and Shinhan Bank. South Korea is Australia's third-largest export market and fourth largest twoway trading partner.

State and federal MPs who will speak at the event include Foreign Affairs Minister Penny Wong, Trade Minister Don Farrell and State Development Minister Chris Picton.
